What are Veneers?
If you’re looking to completely transform your smile, veneers are the easiest and most dramatic option. Here at Mykleby & Thao Family Dentistry, we offer veneers to those who are looking to change the appearance of their smile. The veneer procedure involves placing thin porcelain shells on the front of your teeth. Veneers are matched to your existing teeth so that they look and even feel completely natural.
Why would you need Veneers?
Veneers are ideal for patients who are unhappy with the way that their smile looks. Veneers can cover a range of cosmetic problems that would otherwise require a lot of work to repair and fix. Some reasons to consider veneers include:
• Veneers cover small imperfections on front teeth
• Veneers are great for covering teeth that are discolored and stained
• Veneers cover up chips, cracks and small hairline fractures
• Veneers can last for up to a decade with proper care
• Veneers are placed with little to no local anesthetic
What makes you a good candidate for Veneers?
Because veneers require very little drilling to be placed, they’re typically ideal for most of our patients. They are ideal for those who want to transform their smile without having to go for more invasive treatment. Veneers are long-lasting, typically staying in perfect shape for about a decade before you’ll need to have them replaced. When the veneers are made for you, we match them to your existing teeth so that they blend in perfectly.
What happens during the procedure for Veneers?
The veneer process begins with a consultation here at Mykleby & Thao Family Dentistry. We will determine if you will benefit from veneers and explain the procedure to you. Next, the fronts of your teeth are slightly buffed to make room for the veneers and improve them adhering to the teeth. Impressions, or molds, of your teeth are taken to help create the actual veneers. Once the veneers are made and sent back to our office, we’ll carefully place them on each front tooth. With proper maintenance and routine dental care, you can expect your brand new veneers to last for about a decade.
